We are an architectural design firm specializing in the meaningful connection between buildings and the environment. With our creative use of space, color and materials, we transform existing buildings to suit their time and place. We are based in San Luis Obispo, CA, with projects throughout the US. We offer services in architecture, interiors and site design for new construction, additions and renovations.
Kelle Brooks, principal
Kelle is a licensed architect with degrees in fine art and architecture. She has practiced between the fields of art, architecture and landscape architecture, with a focus on creating direct relationships with physical phenomena that link one to the unique qualities of place. Currently as an instructor in the department of architecture at Cal Poly where she teaches spatial and material composition, emphasizing the integration of the natural and built environments and is particularly concerned with the relationship between aesthetics and sustainable design.
Dale Clifford, principal
Dale is interested in traditional and emerging material technologies and the relationship of biology and ecology to architecture. He is a licensed architect now practicing as a principal of BrooksClifford Design Studio, holds an appointment with the CMU College of Civil and Environmental Engineering and teaches at the Carnegie Mellon University School of Architecture. Clifford chairs the Masters of Science of Architecture program at Carnegie Mellon and is a Research Associate at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History.
